Administration Conducting Research Into Laser Weapon

From the New York Times: Administration Conducting Research Into Laser Weapon :

The Bush administration is seeking to develop a powerful ground-based laser weapon that would use beams of concentrated light to destroy enemy satellites in orbit.

If you are interested, check out the link. It's got way too much information for what is supposed to be a "highly secret" program.

I just thought it was funny to imagine "the administration" conducting laser weapon research. I mean, I like Bush's cabinet, but who is qualified for this type of work? Is this why Rove had to quit his policy post -- his subsystem is running way behind schedule? And I wouldn't trust McClellan within 100 feet of an electric outlet, much less working on a high-powered laser.

Are they going to get Cheney to test it on his next hunting trip? What part does Snow play in all of this? Has any administration ever had TWO people named Snow before? Did Bush just think that would be cool?

Apparently, Bush's laser is much more powerful than Clinton's puny laser program, which apparently was just meant to provide x-ray vision.

Is this like the "LASER" that Dr. Evil wanted to build?
